Light is all around us, and its significance cannot be overestimated.

It is needed for everything we do so it is necessary to understand it. The best way to do this is by learning the essential details about light such as lasers, the existence of light in nature, life, art and culture, etc.

This is due to its unique properties such as its ability to produce high power as it is focused to a pinpoint which makes it perfect as a precision scalpel in the medical field. It is also used in other industries such as environmental sensing, telecommunications, manufacturing, basic scientific research, entertainment, and space exploration. Every day, new uses continue to energy for the laser, and wide-reaching areas where laser technology may soon be applied include higher Internet speeds, better cancer diagnoses, exploration of black holes, clean energy sources, and lots more.

Light Sources in the World

In scientific research facilities called Free Electron Lasers (FELs) or synchrotrons, light is a crucial ingredient. These facilities usually have a particle accelerator that can create very bright light with so much intensity that it can be used to view the molecular and atomic details of the world. Scientists use these facilities of applied and fundamental research to examine all scientific research fields. There are currently more than sixty Free Electron Lasers (FELs) or synchrotrons all over the world today dedicated to different applications in engineering, pharmacology, physics, new materials, etc.

Light in Nature

Light exists in different forms in nature from rainbows to sunsets. It is seen in multiple varieties such as the green and blues of the ocean. A rainbow is one of the most beautiful forms of natural lights. A phenomenon that happens when raindrops meet sunlight. It forms as a multicolour arch which is produced as through the bending of the light or as it scientifically called, refraction. This happens when a wave travels from one medium that has a refractive index to another one with the refractive index at an angle that can be described as oblique. It is also reparations that cause sunsets which happens when the edge of the spherical sun disappears under the horizon.
